YOGA TEACHER, TEACHER TRAINER, E-RYT 500®, YACEP®
ABOUT ME
I am a professional musician, parish minister, licensed officiant, trained grief group facilitator, wellness coach, yoga teacher trainer, and author, a seeker, a collaborator, a teacher, and a life-long learner.
I’m drawn to all things bright and beautiful,
I appreciate the mystical and mysterious
and the power of human community.
I strive to live and work in alignment with my core values,
- to honor the sacredness of persons and relationships,
- to practice non-violent communication,
- to mindfully cultivate humility, compassion, and gratitude,
- to appreciate beauty and humor,
- and to be open to the divine presence in the human journey.
My yoga practice, teaching, and writing emphasize the practice of self-compassion and the use of breath-based practices and techniques to cultivate equanimity, 1steadiness, patience, strength, acceptance, and personal integration. I work to make these techniques available and accessible for every willing student.
My background
My background includes rich training in practices to support the well-being and development of the whole human person - body, mind, and spirit. I’ve studied theology, spirituality, music, yoga, health, and wellness.
I’ve been teaching yoga since completing my first 230 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2006. I have thousands of hours of teaching experience with students of every level, from absolute beginners to advanced teacher trainees, students of every age, from five to 85+, students in various stages of life working with special circumstances and conditions, from pregnant to postpartum moms, students with arthritis or other conditions of chronic pain, students suffering with anxiety or depression, and students navigating grief and loss.
I have thousands of hours of experience as a yoga student and teacher, studying with many master teachers in three lineages descended from Krishnamacharya: the Ashtanga Yoga Method of K. Pattabhi Jois, the Yoga method of B.K.S. Iyengar, and the Viniyoga Method of T. K. V. Desikachar.
Extensive yoga trainings which have influenced my teaching include:
Yoga Center of Minneapolis 230-hour and 500 hour Teacher Training programs, Ashtanga teacher training with David Swenson, Restorative Yoga Teacher Training with Judith Hanson Lasater, PhD, PT, Viniyoga Immersion with Gary Kraftsow, and Yoga Anatomy trainings with Leslie Kaminoff and Judith Lasater.
